Between them Hitler and Stalin represent the worst in 20th century political leaders. They are linked in Shostakovich's war-time Symphony, an attempt to show optimism in the face of the most horrible adversity. Meanwhile Prokofiev was busy travelling through north Africa and southern Europe as he wrote his Second Violin Concerto, which colourfully evokes many of the sounds he experienced on his travels abroad.

Waseda Brass From Japan in Penang, The Glorious Brass Music

Waseda Brass From Japan will hold a concert titled "The Glorious Brass Music" this 21st Nov 2010. It will be held at Auditorium A, Level 5, KOMTAR from 3:00pm to5:00 pm.


The Waseda Brass was founded in 2000 by members of the brass section of Waseda University’s Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo, Japan. The band comprises skilled amateur and professional musicians and has an active role in organising concerts in Japan.


This event aims to promote music appreciation among local citizens, especially that of band music through the performance by talented and gifted musicans. It is also one of the music culture promoted by Penang State Tourism Development & Culture. Local school bands and musicians are invited to this event which provides an opportunity for them to learn about the professional standards of performing. This is not just an evening filled with beautiful music by the Waseda Brass , it is also an exchange of cultures contributing to the close ties between Malaysia and Japan.
