Sat 27 November 2010, 8.30pm

Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra
Claus Peter Flor conductor
James Ehnes violin

PROKOFIEV: Violin Concerto No.2
SHOSTAKOVICH: Symphony No.8

Between them Hitler and Stalin represent the worst in 20th century political leaders. They are linked in Shostakovich's war-time Symphony, an attempt to show optimism in the face of the most horrible adversity. Meanwhile Prokofiev was busy travelling through north Africa and southern Europe as he wrote his Second Violin Concerto, which colourfully evokes many of the sounds he experienced on his travels abroad.

The same concert is available on Sunday, 28 November 2010 at 3.00pm

Ticket Price (RM): 85 | 65 | 40 | 20
