168 Years Old "Kew Ong Yah" Grand Float Procession

Date: 10th Oct 2010 (Sunday)
Time: 7pm

Hong Kong Street Tow Boh Keong's Kew Ong Yah is 168 years this Sunday 10-10-10!


A grand procession with 30 decorated floats devoted to “KOY” will be paraded this Sunday. Some 10,000 people are expected to witness the procession. There will be also a Dragon, Lion and 24 Drums Troupe in the line up. Special teams from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Johor are participating in this event as well.


The procession will start off at Hong Kong Street Tow Boh Keong Temple and proceed to Carnarvon Street, Magazine Road, Jalan Gurdwara, Macallum Street, McNair Street, Sandilands Road, Jalan C Y Choy, Prangin Ghaut, Weld Quay, Esplanade, Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling, Chulia Street, Penang Road, Jalan Lim Chwee Leong, Carnarvon Street and ends at Hongkong Street.


Kew Ong Yah is also one of Chinese Ancestral Cultural Heritage where all Devotees observes 9 days of strictly vegetarian diet around this time of year in order to obtain blessings of Good Health n Success, Peace and Harmony and Safety from our Deity “Tow Boh”.

Children's Day Carnival

Adventure Zone - Children's Day CarnivalIn conjunction with Childrens' Day 2010, Adventure Zone will be organising 'Adventure Zone and R.E.A.L. Kids' Children's Day Celebration.


Among the activities are children's face painting, clown shows, games such as Fish Me and  Toss Me, MI Diagnostic, and Sunquick games. Adventurous indoor games await the children to complete the day with slides and obstacle race.


Adventure Zone is a unique family entertainment venue for children and adults comprising of comprehensive indoor facility catering for family style activities where children, teens, and adults can interact together in a safe environment.

24th Mount Kinabalu International Climbathon 2010 (October 23 - 24, 2010 )

Considered as “the World’s Toughest Mountain Race”, the Mount Kinabalu International Climbathon is the ultimate mental and physical challenge to test runners  endurance by running up and down Mount Kinabalu for a total distance of 21 kilometers.


First held in 1987 by Sabah Parks. The objective of the first event was to recruit new rescue personnels whom could reach injured climbers and provide first aid as fast as possible. 


However, due to it's popularity and as a potential tourist event, Sabah Tourism Board took over to organizing the event since 1995.


The 24th Mount Kinabalu International Climbathon 2010, will be held on October 23 - 24, 2010


The prize money for the winners are as follows. 




The race starts from Timpohon Gate and you have run up to Low's Peak (4095.2 meter) and back to the starting point. 


Last year race winner Mr Kilian Jornet Burgada from Spain took about 2 hour and 40 minutes to complete the race. For women category, Ms Emanuela Brizio from Italy completed the climbathon in 3 hour and 20 minutes.
