AirAsia achieved another world record, by selling more than 500,000 seats in 24 hours

Sepang, 11 August 2010 – AirAsia achieved another world record, by selling more than 500,000 seats in 24 hours!

The airline sold its record-breaking 538,000 seats yesterday, the first day of its Mind Blowing Fare campaign, which offers a mind-boggling RM1* airfare for domestic and international flights.

AirAsia bested its previous record of 390,000 seats sold in a day, achieved when it ran its Free Seats campaign across the entire AirAsia Group (AirAsia Berhad, Indonesia AirAsia and Thai AirAsia) last November.

Also yesterday, AirAsia recorded its highest number of seat sales in an hour, selling 36,871 seats, a 47.5% increase from the previous record of 25,000.

The ongoing Mind Blowing Fare promotion offers RM1* airfare for bookings made from 10 – 15 August 2010 for travel between 1 April and 11 August 2011.

The promotion is available exclusively at www.airasia.com and mobile.airasia.com.

AirAsia credits New Skies, its new state-of-the-art booking system, for achieving the record-breaking numbers. New Skies, launched by the airline last month, has greatly expanded the airline’s booking capacity, allowing up to almost 1 million flight bookings a day.

The Mind Blowing Fare is AirAsia’s first major promotion using the New Skies system. The successful sale of more than half a million seats in the ongoing promotion shows that the new system is stable and able to efficiently handle massive sales volume.

Tony Fernandes, Group CEO of AirAsia, said, “AirAsia’s investment in the new booking engine is clearly paying off. Our New Skies system has revolutionized our internet booking. Now, we are able to give guests greater flexibility in booking their flights and the ability to directly manage their bookings. AirAsia is going from strength to strength.”

“We’re happy to offer guests the opportunity to grab the special offers under our Mind Blowing Fare campaign. The campaign is especially attractive with festive holidays, such as Hari Raya, coming up,” he added.

The Mind Blowing Fare campaign gives guests the chance to fly for RM1* to domestic destinations such as Alor Setar, Johor Bahru, Kota Bahru, Langkawi and Penang.

Other sexy destinations in the ASEAN region that are also going for the price of RM1* include Krabi, Phuket, Singapore, Siem Reap, Phnom Penh, Yogyakarta, Bandung, Brunei, Hatyai and Ho Chi Minh City. Guests wanting to explore destinations beyond ASEAN may opt to head for Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Trichy, Guilin, Haikou and Macau.

AirAsia’s offer does not stop at RM1* fares, but continues with greater deals from AirAsiaGo.com with free room nights across exciting domestic and international destinations. Guests must log on to www.airasiago.com from 10 – 15 August 2010 and book for travel between 1 April and 11 August 2011 in order for a chance to grab the free room nights.

The buzz over AirAsia’s Mind Blowing Fare campaign was created largely by AirAsia through its social media channels, which boast of a follower base of 600,000 largely from eight countries.

Golf in Malaysia - The Unseen Golf Destination

BANGKOK (June 7, 2010) - Leading Thailand, Vietnam & Cambodia Golf Tour Operator Golfasian is now presenting golf holiday makers with the opportunity to Golf in Malaysia.

"During the recent months we have received an increasing amount of requests for Malaysia Golf Tour Packages. Given Malaysia's beautifully designed golf courses, fascinating hotels & resorts, superb infrastructure, and friendly hospitality, we have decided to add Malaysia Golf as an additional Asian Golf Destination," explained Mark Siegel, Managing Director of Golfasian.

Malaysia boost roughly 40 playable golf courses (out of around 200 golf courses), with the majority located in and around Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur, Johor in Peninsular Malaysia, and the islands Penang and Langkawi. "The The Golf Club Datai Bay in Langkawi, the Saujana Golf & Country Club in Kuala Lumpur, and the The Mines Resort & Golf Club in KL are certainly three must play golf courses for those who want the premier Malaysia Golf Holiday experience," Mark Siegel continued.

Besides great golf, Malaysia offers an immense range of attractions and outdoor activities for any age and group size. As Golfasian's Business Development Manager, Pascal Orczech, said "From the well-known 88-storey Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur to Malacca, famous for its history, climbing Mount Kunabalu, experiencing the limestone caves of Sarawak or snorkeling at Perhentian Island - Malaysia has it all and more!"

The 12 Days 'Malaysia Golfing Experience' golf package is the perfect entrance golf tour for those who are unfamiliar with golf in Malaysia and want to experience only the best in a reasonable amount of time.

Due to Malaysia's close proximity to Thailand with only 50 minutes flight time between Langkawi and Phuket or 1 hour and 15 minutes from Kuala Lumpur to Phuket, nothing stands in the way for a multi-country Asia Golf Holiday. "Our 15 Days 'Malaysia and Thailand Golf Tour' is one of our most often requested Malaysia/Thailand Golf Tour Packages," explained Pascal Orczech.

Golfasian has added the best Malaysia Golf Courses and most unique Malaysia Golf Tour Packages to its website at www.golfasian.com.

If you have not yet planned your 2010 golf holiday, try Malaysia Golf - you will take home an Asian Golf Holiday Experience you won't forget anytime soon.

Homestay Malaysia

In Malaysia there are two type of homestay offerings.

One type of homestay is a comfortable guest house that is rented out to guest by house owner for daily, weekly and monthly rate. This is a new industry in Malaysia and the number of house owners who have converted their houses into homestay is increasing by day. The location for this type of homestay is normally in town or well know tourist attraction places.

The advantages of a homestay compared to a hotel room is that the rate is much more cheaper and it's much more spacious. Plus, there is no strict restriction on number of adults allowed. You have more freedom and it will just the same as your house.

For another type of homestay, normally the guest house is located in Kampung or village surrounded by hills and padi fields.
You still need to pay for your accommodation and other extras, but you will have the opportunity to join the locals go fishing, preparing dinner or simply enjoy idyllic kampung life. This type of homestay experience is much more fun. One way to runaway from the hustle and bustle of the city life.
Whatever type of homestay you're looking for, you could find it at http://carihomestay.net . You could easily get in touch with the homestay owner to rent out a house/ room or simply arrange at trip to experience a kampung life.
For homestay owner, you could publish your homestay details, contact detail and location map of your guest house.
